If you’ve spent time in downtown Grande Prairie, there’s a good chance you’ve seen Serena Love’s work.
From the four-storey-tall 100% Human mural on the TELUS building to her contributions throughout the Art in the Alley project, her work has helped bring colour, character, and creativity to the downtown core.
What stood out most when speaking with Serena was how she talks about her work.
“A painting is never just a painting. It’s a reflection of where I’ve been.”
That idea is closely tied to her own journey as an artist.
Painting found its way back into Serena’s life during a period of healing. What began as a personal creative outlet gradually grew into community projects, public art, and opportunities she never expected.
Along the way, she learned to say yes to opportunities and trust the process, even when she didn’t know exactly where it would lead. That willingness to take chances has helped shape artwork that has become familiar to many people throughout Grande Prairie.
We’re excited to have Serena as part of The Blue Building Project and look forward to seeing how her creativity continues to inspire the people, ideas, and experiences that will bring this space to life.
